- Sometime in the Nebulous Future, falls - like the other Yaksha did before him - into darkness, corrupted and consumed by the weight of his karmic debt.
- Had already narrowly missed falling once before (character story #5) and was only saved by Venti's song. This time, there was no such salvation: was Venti not playing that night? Was Venti playing, but Xiao already too far gone to hear him? Whatever happened doesn't strictly matter, the outcome was still the same.
- Absolutely went on a bloody rampage. Also definitely ate a bunch of people's dreams (and probably nightmares, too).
- Zhongli had to come out of retirement to kill him - and did. So he's very, very dead: he never managed to put down his mission in life, even though his contract was ended and the humans had proven themselves able to protect Liyue, but obviously dying is a really permanent retirement.
Extra Note: Doesn't possess his yaksha mask anymore, as it broke when he became corrupted.
Popdrop-specific Stuff:
- Very definitely still dead and still corrupted: obviously his soul still bears the weight of the karma he wasn't able to work off before he died.
- Exists in something of a liminal state: he's still corrupted even after death, but not having access to his powers means he can function normally ("normally" by his standards, that is). However, his corruption is tied to his powers: the risk is ever-present and terrifying.
- In situations where he does have access to his powers, the risk of his corruption taking hold of him again and him just going uncontrollably feral is High. Even if he manages to keep control, it's just right there, just under his skin. (*honestly the only reasons it's not "all the time" when his powers are active is because playability for me)
- Getting him out of that feral state...probably either 1) beating him unconscious (already dead, plus killing him again is obviously only an option for death days), 2) A Certain Flute Song, 3) maybe whatever that "painkiller" Zhongli made for him was (in Zhongli's line for him). good luck getting him to take it though.
- Probably the memories of his rampage post-corruption are mostly swiss cheese, details unclear and full of holes. The actual memory of the moment of his fall is clear, as his death at Zhongli's hands (which means he has a hard confirm on Zhongli = Rex Lapis/Morax. Presumably he guessed beforehand but had no confirmation.
